Leviticus 17:11
For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to mke atonement for yourselves on the altar: it is the blood that makes atonement for one's life.
The Old Testament tells of a time when the people would sacrafice animals to come in communion with God. These times forshadow what God did for us when he sent His Son for us!
1Peter 1:18,19
For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.
Romans 3:21-25
But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood.
Romans 5:9
Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him!
Ephesians 2:13
But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.
Probably one of the more well known verses wraps this up in a nutshell.
John 3:16-18
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son."
